This post, while not directly related to my consultancy, illustrates one of my passions.  I am seeking to raise awareness of the exploitation and trafficking of women in many parts of the world today.

On a trip earlier this year to Thailand I was confronted by the brazen sex trade. It proved to be a life changing experience and has prompted me to become someone who wants do something about this injustice.

The A21 Campaign is an organisation devoted to helping women all around the world trapped in slavery. Quoting from their literature:

Right now there are an estimated 27 million people being held captive around the world. The average age of the victims in only 14 and every second another two children are trafficked. Europe is a primary destination and in Greece alone there are as many as 20,000 women and children in slavery right now.

A21′s latest initiative: What if we hold the keys to freedom? What if we help spread the word about human trafficking so that more people are aware and fewer people are abused?

On Thursday October 21st 2010, let’s all do something simple to show the world that together, we hold the ‘keys’ to freedom! Everyone puts ‘a key’, could be small, big, rusty or brand new; on a chain around their neck. Then you go to work or about your daily duties and wait to see how many conversations start up over the simple ‘key’ around your neck! It costs you nothing, but you can make a stand in your world for those who can not stand.
